Lots of people feel overwhelmed by the idea of all the changes they'll have to make in their lives, in order to even start training their dogs... for years, many have asked me to take their dogs for training.  Until now, I was never in a position where I felt comfortable doing this... now I am, and this is so much fun for me!

If you're looking for a board and train program that’s trustworthy, safe, and effective, this program is unique, allowing me to maximize your dog's safety as well as program efficiency.  I have only your dog here (or your multiple dogs, if you wish), and I tailor this training to your specific goals (you tell ME), while keeping you directly updated on your dog’s progress on a daily basis with either a call or video.  This is a full immersion program that takes place in my home, where I maintain structure, and reinforce wanted behavior and potty training 24/7.

What I offer:

 Focused care; I only have 1 dog besides my own on the premises at a time (yours!)

​

 The training I use is reward-based... no force, no punishment, no hurtful collars.  There is no yelling, no hitting, no scaring, nothing that might hurt emotionally or physically.  I utilize clicker training, but I can use verbal markers instead of a clicker if you'd rather learn to do that.

​

 The amount of time spent kenneled here is very limited... your dog may be kenneled at night, if you wish him to be.  Otherwise, he'll be on or beside my bed.   I love the crate as a tool; you may not.

 

I don't make false promises based on your expectations... your dog will get a good foundation in companion behavior, but not regimented behavior.  Understand this: a week or 2 spent with me will not get you a dog who is the perfect gentleman... that takes time and work.  His and yours.  What this time with me WILL get you is a dog with a strong foundation for understanding how the reward game is played (so that you can focus on *your* learning the game in the 1-on-1 sessions afterward), and this behavior can be readily generalized to you and your home more quickly than it would in individual sessions.

 

The training is developed and taught by a certified canine behavior counsellor (me) with over 25 years experience in the field, teaching both humans and animals.

 

During this time, your dog will live in a positive, nurturing environment (my home), so that he can learn companion attitudes.

 

2 training sessions included in the program: in your home; one session within 48 hours of pick-up, and one session a week later to ensure that those positive companion attitudes learned in #7 will be generalized to your home.

 

An intensive, customized training program designed by me for your needs and wishes, with your dog's safety & comfort at the forefront, establishing a foundation in everyday manners.

 

After the original 1-wk or more intensive training program, your dog can stay for an occasional 'brush-up' overnighter (at an additional boarding cost), so that behaviors can be 'brushed up' if needed.

 

Problem behaviors that can be addressed during this program include: chewing, barking, jumping, mouthing, potty training, walking nicely on leash, social skills (with humans).  Foundational companion training can be achieved in obedience, greeting, housetraining, crate training, loose leash training, and many other aspects of companion training.

In BoardNTrain training, only mild fear and aggressive tendencies can be addressed, so please be frank in your explanations about both the nature and intensity and how this behavior is expressed... some extreme behavior traits should be addressed only in private home sessions, at first, where the dog is more secure. 

 

BoardNTrain Program cost is $1300 per week per dog (see available discounts, below).  Dogs must be fully vaccinated including Kennel Cough, the distemper combo shot, and Rabies, and I'll send you my Boarding Agreement to fill out when I send you the link to pay for the program.  You are welcome to pay off this amount in installments prior to your dog's stay in my home.

Please note: The BoardNTrain dog information online form includes all the information that I'll need to care properly for your dog in my home, and should be filled out as soon as possible.  In addition, the BoardNTrain Agreement printed form will be signed the day you drop him/her off to me, and must be turned in with all fees on the drop-off day.  I accept online payment, money order, or cash; I'll send you a link to use for payment if you choose to arrange BoardNTrain for you dog.
